Dagon!

The Herald of the Black Hand
Posted by Thomas McGregor May 12th 2008

The man known as Dagon was once a harbour thug who worked for petty crime bosses extorting money from small businesses and collecting debts.  Not the brightest, but with undeniable size and strength, Dagon was trapped at the bottom of the food chain.

Dagon had a life outside of his work of course, and he  took great care to protect his wife and son from the wickedness of the streets of Ravensrook, for he wanted a better life for them.  His new born son Xander and his wife Elsa where his greatest joy, and he loved them dearly.

But Dagon's life was to soon take a dramatic change.  He met a man named Haygath, a twisted old brute, who worked for his employers, and things would never be the same.  Haygath recognized some hidden potential in Dagon and offered him power beyond his wildest dreams.  For a better life for his family Dagon took the offer and Haygath introduced him to the will of The Father of Night, a powerful ender evil that slumbered beneath the earth awaiting it's time to rise.  The ritual that bound Dagon to The Father changed him down to his very flesh, reforming him in a monstrous new form that made use of his great strength and harnessed the power of his mind.

Dagon Was Reborn!  He was a towering mass of muscle, wrapped in dark grey skin, thick as hard leather and cold as stone.  His eyes were black as coals, with no hint of pupil, iris or sclera.  His nose was broad and flat and could smell even the slightest hint of blood.  His mouth, now a widened maw, was filled with sharp teeth, razor sharp and wickedly barbed.  His lips chewed from their place to leavening only wicked scars in their place.  His arms became long and thick with wicked black claws extending from his fingers.  He grew a massive stomach, large and round, which could fit house a mans corpse once it has passed though Dagon's horrific mouth.  Dagon was a predator among men, and he was the New Herald of the Black Hand, The Father of Night.

Not only was Dagon's body re-shaped by the powers of evil, but his mind was altered as well.  He became violent, brutal and cruel.  All vestiges of humanity had been stripped away, and replaced with the desires of a monster.  When Dagon returned home to his family his wife fled in fear, taking their son with her, a fatal mistake.  Dagon wanted to raise his son to be a monster as well, and when Elsa took Xander from him Dagon became enraged.  For nearly two decades he hunted Elsa, bringing terror and sadism wherever she went, and leaving only destruction and broken souls in his wake.

But in the end it was not Dagon who ended his wife's flight, it was Xander.  He grew tired of fleeing and took his mother's life to end the cycle.  Then he turned his attention to finding his father, who he had become determined to kill as well.
